  I'm not very familiar with CLSQL. Can you tell me what advantages
  your code has over the pg-socket backend that is already implemented
  in CLSQL?

  Your variable *PG-COERCE-RESULT-TYPES* seems to be redundant given
  the existing variable *PG-DISABLE-TYPE-COERCION*.
