I have the same problem:
   debian 2.6.30-2-amd64
   sbcl 1.0.31.32
   hunchentoot 1.0
   emacs23 -> slime ->sbcl

after
(setf *http-server* (hunchentoot:start (make-instance 
'hunchentoot:acceptor))
(hunchentoot:stop *http-server*)

There is no response (break, ^G ^C ^D etc.) in the REPL.
I have to kill the sbcl process.
